About Gay Snell

Gay Snell

Gay is a fourth generation Washingtonian who grew up in the Virginia suburbs. Her love of music began at a very young age, even before she sang in the church youth choir. She learned to play piano when very young and continued to focus on singing through high school.

In the new century, she took up guitar, studying in the manner of modern classical discipline with Bill Dykes. Her interest in performing led her to playing open stages, jam sessions, paid performances–events featuring her folk music roots and singing ability. As a rare breed of women pickers, she has mastered flat picking breakdowns, as well as classical guitar pieces.

Gay writes some of the music she performs. Her Demo CD is called “My Aunt Sally & Other Tales.” And don’t forget to check out three of her videos on youtube.com.
